Runners conquer Rain Farm Hills to raise funds for The Rise Up Movement

Around 150 runners channelled Kate Bush on Saturday, spending the morning ‘running up that hill’.

Competing in the Rise Up Movement Run – hosted by the Balwin Foundation at Rain Farm Game and Lodge – the runners faced a tricky up-and-down course.

Luckily the weather was perfect and there were stunning views at every angle, often including wildlife, so the cramping calves were somewhat manageable.

The event offered runs of 4, 8 and 16 kilometres, with proceeds donated to the Rise Up Movement, which offers help to victims of abuse on the North Coast.

“We are very happy with the turnout and have thoroughly enjoyed the morning,” said Rise Up Movement founder, Josha Daniel.
“Thank you to the Balwin Foundation and Rain Farm and to everyone who came out for an early morning run.”

Bianca Nel was the best 4km finisher, crossing the line in 40:09, followed closely by men’s winner, Darren Gore, in 41:43.
Jacques Naude took the 8km honours in 44:14, while Cynthia Ngidi won the women’s race in 49:13.

Rounding out the winners on the morning were Desmond Msane (1.14:05) and Nataliia Savelieva (1.23:06) in the 16km event.
