Logenathan’s century powers Dawnheights to victory

Logenathan’s knock, his second century of the season, was undoubtedly the defining performance.

Dawnheights Cricket Club (DCC) overcame a shaky start to claim a 26-run victory against Lindelani Cricket Club in a thrilling Sunday clash.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, DCC’s top order crumbled, losing three quick wickets for just 12 runs. But the innings took a decisive turn thanks to a gritty 48-run partnership between Sumit Singh and Saieshan Logenathan, lifting the team to 60 before another collapse saw them falter to 91 for 6 by the 15th over.

Logenathan, undeterred by the pressure, anchored the innings with a sublime knock. He combined with Shivan Singh for a critical 49-run stand, followed by a 45-run partnership with skipper Salman Mohamed.

Logenathan’s masterclass culminated in a blistering 116 not out off 83 balls, featuring 17 fours and two sixes, propelling DCC to a competitive total of 189 for 8 in their allotted 30 overs.

Lindelani’s bowlers put up a commendable fight, with Mlungiseledi leading the attack. However, the target proved too steep for their batting line-up. While extras contributed a generous 51 runs to their tally, Lindelani’s innings faltered under consistent pressure from DCC’s bowlers.

Shivan Singh starred with the ball, claiming 3 for 41 in five overs, supported by captain Salman Mohamed’s economical 2 for 13. Lindelani’s efforts fell short, as they managed only 163 runs in 30 overs, leaving DCC to celebrate a hard-fought victory.

Logenathan’s knock, his second century of the season, was undoubtedly the defining performance, showing brilliant temperament under pressure.
