Ballito gymnasts shine at year-end awards

The Ballito Artistic Gymnastics Club offers professional coaching for children at their gym in Umhlali.

The Ballito Artistic Gymnastics Club recently celebrated a fantastic year and medals galore for their young athletes.

Competing in meets across the country, the gymnasts showed huge promise in the sport which is growing in popularity worldwide. Some of the top performing children were further recognised for their efforts during the year-end prize-giving last week.

Courtney Marks took home the outstanding performance award for her Level 3 silver medal at the Central Zone festival.

Lucy du Plessis was named girl’s Gymnast of the Year for her performances at the Central Zone festival, where she won Level 3 gold. The boy’s Gymnast of the Year award was shared by Cameron Palmer and Hunter Chisholm, who won dual gold medals at the Central Zone event.

Siqalo Ndlovu was named the boys’ Most Dedicated Gymnast of the Year.

Rachel France and Siqalo Ndlovu were named the most dedicated gymnasts of the year on the back of their silver medals at the Central Zone, while Courtney Marks took the outstanding performance prize for her silver at the same event.

Rachel French and Lucy du Plessis were named the girls’ Most Dedicated Gymnast and Gymnast of the Year respectively for their strong performances.
