Finding a fitness family with Ballito’s 032 Social Runners Club

The group encourages everyone from ultra-athletes to reformed couch potatoes.

More than a fitness group, Ballito’s 032 Social Runners have built a thriving community of support, friendship and shared purpose.

The group has almost 50 members who consider themselves a family rather than a club. Their approach is inclusive, catering to everyone from relaxed 5km walkers to ultra-distance runners clocking over 160km a week.

Members come from all walks of life, each with their own motivation, from getting active after years of inactivity to training hard for upcoming races.

Recently, around 20 members completed the Comrades Marathon, a milestone achievement, especially for the first-timers who returned with impressive times and even bigger smiles.

What sets the group apart is their spirit of encouragement. Many began as beginners but, thanks to the consistent support of their peers, now lead sessions and inspire others.

Beyond the workouts, the group has become a tight-knit support system. Whether it’s attending one another’s events or offering guidance in everyday life, the bonds formed go well beyond the pavement.

After their morning sessions, the group often gathers at Concha Bakery and Café, a ritual that blends recovery with laughter and connection. Whether they have run 5km or 25km, the energy remains positive and uplifting.

Together, they have built more than a running group, they have created a space where health, friendship and community thrive with every step.
