Sheffield father-and-son claim provincial sport shooting golds
Afzal and Muhammed Moosa both won their divisions in Upper Tongaat.
A Sheffield father-and-son team blasted their way to double gold at a provincial shotgun shooting event in Upper Tongaat last weekend.
Afzal and Muhammad Moosa outshot 27 top-ranked national competitors in the KZN IPSC Shotgun League 3 event at the Ballito Defensive Sport Shooting Club (BDSSC) on Sunday.

Competing in excellent conditions, 20-year-old Muhammad claimed the standard manual with 474.2913 points and also finished sixth in the overall combined division.
Meanwhile, Afzal (52) clinched the top spot in the standard category with an impressive score of 477.3022. He followed it up with the coveted overall combined title after scoring 434.0674 points.

Muhammad, who turns 21 later this month, thanked BDSSC owner Avalon van den Heever for organising an event on the North Coast.
“All of us competitors were blown away by the range, the range facilities and professionalism of the tournament,” he said.
Elsewhere in the competition, Dave Biggs won the modified category, while Na’eem Sabjee of the Richard’s Bay Sport Shooting Club claimed the Open Division title and finished second overall behind Afzal with 421.4280 points.
Na’eem praised the event’s layout and difficulty of the courses.
“All the stages were simple, but all had some difficult technicality to them. As for the range venue, it is the best in the country without a doubt,” he said.
