Double win for Manor and Dawnheights Cricket Clubs

Two young Dawnheights players were also selected to KZN teams.

KwaDukuza’s Manor and Dawnheights cricket clubs both claimed impressive victories last weekend, while some rising stars earned provincial honours.

On Saturday, Manor Cricket Club (MCC) delivered a clinical 10-wicket demolition of Mandini in their 30-over league clash.

Mandini won the toss and elected to bat but struggled against MCC’s disciplined bowling attack. Kevin Chitungo and Poovie Govender each took two wickets as Mandini were bowled out for 104.

MCC’s top performers on the day, Kyle Chinakanoo, Bishnu Chouhan and Poovie Govender.

In reply, MCC openers Kyle Chinakanoo (45*) and Bishnu Chouhan (43*) made light work of the target, guiding their side to a comfortable victory without losing a wicket.

The team’s morale was boosted by the return of founding club legends Mahen Reddy, Kamlasen Reddy and Govender, who stepped in to support the side after an early season loss.

DCC’s Promotion XI.

On Sunday, Dawnheights Cricket Club’s (DCC) Promotion XI secured a convincing five-wicket win over Lindelani.

After winning the toss and choosing to field, DCC’s bowlers swiftly got to work. Salman Mohamed led the attack with a fiery spell of 4/18, supported by sharp fielding, as Lindelani were restricted to 129.

In the chase, Rajen Harry Naidoo anchored the innings with a composed 57, while an unbeaten 39 from Saieshan Logenathan ensured DCC cruised to victory.

Adding to the club’s celebrations, two youngsters from the DCC B team – Ayush Kumar Pundit and Panth Kumar Valand – were selected to represent KZN U13 at a provincial tournament later this month.
