Ballito runners rally for Bloom in festive year-end fun run

Event co-ordinator Debbie Nicholson thanked the community for exceptional support.

Runners stormed Concha Café on Saturday morning, lacing up for Bloom Special Needs School’s final fundraiser of the year.

Participants had a choice between 5km, 10km and 20km routes.

Caryl von Bery, Simone Bowles and Jenny Harris.

The school’s fundraiser and event co-ordinator Debbie Nicholson said the community support was exceptional.

“We even had people arriving and entering right up until the last minute. The community just came together beautifully,” she said.

Kai Loates, Quentin Power and Amy Jenkins.

The weather was ideal early on, although it warmed up later in the morning, especially for those tackling the 20km route. The shorter distances attracted a mix of families, social runners and regular competitors.

Spectators gathered at the finish line to cheer runners home, creating a festive and supportive atmosphere.

Rachel Carey, Nicola Muir and Sarah Magni.

“We are just thrilled with the turnout. It was a perfect morning,” said Nicholson.

“Happy festive season to everybody and thank you for your support of Bloom throughout the year.”
