Weekend wins for Dawnheights and Railways cricket clubs

Dawnheights opener Santir Bageloo was the star of the innings, anchoring the side with a superb 73 off 61 balls.

Dawnheights and Railways cricket clubs enjoyed a weekend of strong victories, highlighted by standout individual performances.

At Gledhow on Saturday, KwaDukuza’s Dawnheights overpowered Oceanville CC by 38 runs in a rain-reduced, 23-over clash.

Opener Santir Bageloo was the star of the innings, anchoring the side with a superb 73 off 61 balls as Dawnheights posted 136/8. Oceanville struggled to keep pace in their reply and were bowled out for 98.

Captain Shivan Singh (3/18) and Bhivanshu Kumar (2/17) applied relentless pressure with the ball, while Bageloo also chipped in with a wicket to complete a match-winning all-round performance.

Railways 1st XI.

On Sunday at Crawford North Coast, Tongaat’s Railways continued the weekend’s theme of disciplined cricket with an emphatic eight-wicket win over Silver Saints.

After restricting the Chatsworth side to 162/5 – thanks to tidy spells from Umar Jamal (2/10) and Nirav Maharaj (1/24) – Railways’ top order delivered a composed chase.

Sumeeth Ramlakkan led the reply with an excellent 84 off 91 balls, sharing a 100-run stand with Rushay Premlal (29*). Their partnership took the score from 55/1 to 155/2, setting up the win with more than four overs to spare.
