Dawnheights CC defeat 2024 champions league champions in Toti thriller
Strong performances by Zulfiqar Ali and Preshen Rampersadh helped the men from KwaDukuza over the line.
KwaDukuza’s Dawnheights Cricket Club defeated 2024 league champions KCCD Mancosa in a tense game in Amanzimtoti on Saturday morning.
KCCD were restricted to 182 all out in the opening innings after struggling to build partnerships. Zulfiqar Ali led Dawnheights’ bowling effort with figures of 3/28, while, Mageshen Iyer, Nikilesh Misra and Kevin Chitungo added two apiece.
In their response, Dawnheights recovered from early losses to reach 183 for 7 in 28.1 overs.
Preshen Rampersadh starred with a composed 81 off 65 balls, earning man-of-the-match honours.
A crucial partnership with Muhammad “Mo” Mather (17) steadied the chase, before Zulfiqar Ali’s quick-fire 25 off 17 sealed the result.
