The darts scene in KwaDukuza is returning to form following an extended break brought on by Covid.

A new KwaDukuza Darts Association committee was elected in January, which is affiliated with provincial and national bodies. Shaun Padayachee was elected president, with Deven Padvattan as vice-president, Rowen Pillay as treasurer, Deena Nair as secretary and Ajen Singh as public relations officer.

Padayachee said the new leadership signals a positive chapter for darts in the region, with a focus on strong administration, growth and increased community participation. He also highlighted the importance of encouraging women and youth to take part in the sport.

The association paid tribute to the late Chicks Venketsamy, whose passion and dedication to darts will always be remembered.

A mixed doubles tournament sponsored by Nivens Maintenance will take place this Wednesday, 11 February, at 7.30pm at the Quartz Conference Centre in KwaDukuza. Entry is R25 per player.
