Warriors Fight and Fitness Academy opens second kickboxing gym in KwaDukuza
The gym started in Richards Bay and has affiliate locations across the province.
A new branch of the popular Warriors Fight and Fitness Academy officially opened in KwaDukuza on Sunday afternoon, expanding the organisation’s footprint across the province.
Founded in 2009, the academy is led by Shihan Kenneth Hana, who brings 44 years of martial arts training experience. In addition to the new KwaDukuza dojo, Warriors Fight and Fitness Academy operates a branch in Richards Bay and has affiliated academies in Newcastle, Underberg, Cato Manor, Chatsworth and Reservoir Hills.
The academy offers training in various kickboxing disciplines, mixed martial arts, boxing and self-defence, that also contribute towards fitness and weight-loss.
Hana said martial arts play an important role in a child’s development.

“Martial arts teaches teamwork, discipline and how to perform under pressure,” he said.
Women’s self-defence classes incorporate both theory and practical components, and safety talks are also offered to corporate groups.
Explaining his decision to open in KwaDukuza, Hana said his 14-year-old twins, Sasha-Lee and Damon-Lee, live in the town and inspired the move.
“I believe every child should learn self-defence skills to build self-confidence and avoid becoming a victim of crime or bullying,” he said.

Warriors Fight and Fitness Academy athletes represented the club at KwaZulu-Natal trials, the South African National Championships, the Africa Cup and the Junior World Championships in Budapest in 2024.
Junior and senior classes are available, and Hana said children can begin training as soon as they are able to distinguish between left and right.
The Warriors gym can be found at Suite 6, The Towers, 69 Mahatma Gandhi Street. Contact Kenneth at 082 631 9645 for more information.
