Dawnheights dominate semi-finals to secure two final spots

The A and B teams beat Manor CC and Nkobongo CC respectively.

Dawnheights Cricket Club’s dominance was on full display over the weekend as both their A and B sides powered into their respective league finals.

DCC A produced a solid display against Manor CC A in their T30 league semi-final. Batting first, Dawnheights scored 239/3, built on an opening stand of 115 from Adesh (81) and Santir Bageloo (34).

Saieshan Logenathan (62 not-out) and 13-year-old debutant Pant Valand (25 not-out) ensured a big score with a closing 78-run partnership.

Dawnheights B were ruthless against Nkobongo.

Manor were bundled out for 105, as Zulfikar Ali (4/9) and Salman Mohamed (2/10) led the charge to a 124 run victory.

DCC B were also clinical in their T20 league match against Nkobongo CC. After electing to field, skipper Rakesh Maraj struck with the opening ball, setting the tone for a disciplined bowling effort.

Maraj (1/10) and Shriyan Naidoo strangled the innings early, followed by excellent spells from Adhir (2/15) and Suveer Maharaj (2/16). Nkobongo limped to 72/7 in their allotted overs.

In reply, Hardik Valand blasted an unbeaten 32 off 16 balls, supported by Manoj Pundit (22 not-out) and Keaton Govender (18), The men from KwaDukuza won by nine wickets.
