Crawford did bounce back impressively after their huge loss in the first game, drawing 0-0 against Northlands and only going down 2-0 to Danville Girl’s High.

No strangers to winning trophies, having claimed the regional trophy three times, Ashton had high hopes of advanced to the finals, but Our Lady of Fatima edged them out 3-0.

Ashton coach Nic White said his team missed out on early chances because of taking risks.

“We took a calculated risk, taking our keeper off to put an extra player forward to bolster our attack, but time ran out. The character and self-belief shown by these youngsters at the tournament nevertheless indicate an exciting and bright hockey season ahead,” he said.

Our Lady of Fatima went on to defeat Danville Girls High by 1-0 in the final and lifted the trophy for the fifth time.
