Curro Salt Rock’s sailing brothers show their mettle

Despite their young age, Gust and Kai demonstrate remarkable skill and determination on the water, earning admiration from fellow sailors and spectators alike.

Curro Salt Rock Primary School brothers Gust Funke and Kai Funke are young yachties fast earning a reputation in the sailing fraternity.

Competing in the Hunter KZN Championships on March 16-17 at Midmar Dam, Gust skipped his keelboat to first place in the junior section against a fleet of very experienced adults.

At the Hunter National Championships on March 21-24, also held at Midmar Dam, they claimed fourth place in the junior category.

Gust also sailed his Optimist boat to 15th place at the Optimist Western Cape Championships held in Mosselbay over Easter.
