Local songbird trending the music charts
Glendale born musician, Lungi Naidoo's latest R&B album has been receiving great support with local and national radio stations giving it ample airplay.

Naidoo moved to Johannesburg ten years ago to fulfill her ambition of a career in music. In 2007 she released a self titled album I will which placed her amongst the top rated R&B musicians in the country. Since then she has worked with the likes of Proverb and Brian Temba who features on her latest album, I am.
“I am very excited about the songs in this new album and the fact that it has received so much love after dropping only on August 24,” said Naidoo.

This former Shakaskraal Secondary pupil said the music industry is tough and one needs to always be alert to what is new and happening to keep up.
“I have had to learn to keep my feet placed on the ground and not let people dictate who I am but rather for me to grow into the artist I know I am, hence the title of my album.”
She says her career has not been an easy road but there have been highlights, such as working with the legendary maskandi singer Ihhashi Elimhlophe and sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed singer and producer, Akon.
“My musical journey started from humble beginnings. I sang in our church and school choir and later with a gospel group from Groutville called Paradise Stars. Through my hard work and perseverance artists such as Kabelo Mabalane and DJ Sbu have featured me on their albums.”
This mother of one told the Courier about her passion for helping underprivileged children which inspired her to start The Lungi Foundation in 2008.
“The main objective of the foundation is to assist children, meeting their daily needs by working with schools, shelters and orphanages to provide clothes, books and food parcels,”
