Magic Maj’s first music video
Locals took part in Majozi’s music video for his single 'The River'.
A crowd of friends and fans gathered at the Litchi Orchard last Wednesday to support local artist Nhlanhla Majozi, nicknamed Maj, in making his first music video.
The atmosphere at the venue was festive with people socialising while the camera crew set up to shoot the video’s final stage of footage, which included the crowd.
The music video is being made for Majozi’s single The River. The River is part of his début EP album Marvelous Light which made the top ten of the iTunes South African music charts in December last year.
“I tell two separate stories through the song; one of an old drunk guy who lost everything and the other of an under-age prostitute,” said Majozi.
In the video the old man wakes up from a binge and starts having flash backs of his daughter.
The production team for the video consisted of film maker Yash Lucid and director Tim Hay, along with cameraman and fellow member of Linc Church, Simon Wilkes and decorator Bridgette Heydenrych.
“The video should be ready in two or three weeks. I will put it on my YouTube channel and send it out to wherever I can,” said Majozi, who is now concentrating on coming up with fresh material for the year.
According to Majozi, the filming all went according to plan.
“It was great seeing everyone together. People look so beautiful when they are smiling and having a good time. I hope I can keep that vibe going in future concerts.”
