Allan Hirsch launches his own recipe book

A Taste of Hirsch's

Allan Hirsch finally had his turn to take a stab at bringing his culinary skills and passion for food alive in the pages of his own recipe book in conjunction with culinary whizz and family friend, Vanessa de Beer.

The Hirsch family have been prolific in the creation of recipe books over the years with most of the family members having their own cook books published.

A Taste of Hirsch’s is a collection of recipes from Allan’s childhood days, his travels around the world and special meals with family- delicious, healthy family favourites.

Sunday lunches and time spent together as a family enjoying good food are precious times for Allan. This is showcased through the recipes in his book, giving it a very homely feel.

“Food builds strong friendships and creates love and happiness. The best of camaraderie and community is formed around food and lifestyle and it is for this reason that I have loved working on this cookery book for Allan. He is an amazing friend and family man,” said De Beer.

The culinary moments along Allan’s journey were beautifully captured in colourful snap shots of delicious food by professional photographer, Samantha Maber.

Some of the cook book highlights include: for breakfast, the healthy home-made fibre-rich granola, a delightful spicy midday meal of smokey brinjal and cashew nut curry or the vibrant mediterranean salmon tray bake.

Then there’s the family’s favourite chocolate mousse meringue to round things off or Allan’s baked blackberry cheesecake and a lot more.

Allan and Richard Hirsch cooked up a storm in the Celebrity Kitchen at Durban’s East Coast Radio House and Garden Show last friday, June 20.

A Taste of Hirsch’s is available from all Hirsch stores, or order it on the Hirsch Web site: www.hirschs.co.za
