Christmas nightingales delight

Christmas music performance raise money for Orphan Fund.

The Ballito Dutch Reformed Church was filled with the sounds of Christmas music on Sunday, November 30.

The Durban Symphonic Choir together with the Dolphin Singers presented “A Feast of Christmas Songs”, delighting the audience with a selection of Christmas tunes as well as the opportunity to sing along with well-known Christmas carols.

Soloists, including young Robyn Gillespie from Crawford North Coast College and Sabrina Loubser of Ashton College held the audience captive with their beautiful voices.

Even untimely load shedding failed to dampen the enthusiastic response from a fair sized audience.

The proceeds of the concert (R6,515 including the raffle) were donated to the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund. The raffle for which Gaby Lyle donated one of her famous Christmas cakes, was won by Denise Campbell.

Orphan Fund secretary Rose Stephenson thanked the choirs for never failing to delight in this annual Christmas event as well as a particular thank you to dominee Alwyn Smal for the venue and the kerk ladies for the delicious spread of eats for refreshments at interval.

The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund raises money for the care of orphans within the newspaper’s circulation area. Since its launch in July 2003, the NGO has raised and distributed over R2.3 mil.
