Is Valentine’s Day doomed to fail?
February 14 is one of the most common days for break-ups.
With all the hype surrounding Valentine’s Day you will either be crowned King of Romance, or be dragged through the mud by your white horse as your elaborate plans get the better of you.
But I am warning you now that your Valentine’s Day plans will probably not work out, because you know who loves February 14 more than you and your other half?
Murphy’s law.Yep, as soon as you plan all those romantic shenanigans and surprises for V-Day, something is bound to go wrong.
There is so much hype around this day that one person in a romantic partnership invariably expects more than the other delivers.
Buying your girl some Belgian chocolates, are you?
“I am on a diet babe, you know this!” she says as you give her the box of expensive candy.
So next time you know she’s on that diet, you don’t buy any chocolates and then she’s majorly upset about the fact that you couldn’t spoil her with just one small chocolate heart.
“Do you think I’m fat?” she screams.
Didn’t see that response coming did you? Maybe you can spoil your man with a couple’s massage!
Unfortunately for him, the only appointment available was during the rugby game on Saturday.
That massage won’t be so relaxing with him checking the score on Twitter the whole time.
For some reason people think it is a good idea to propose on Valentine’s Day. You take the adventurous route and teach her to surf while you hide the bling-bling in your wetsuit.
One rogue wave later and she’s crying, not yet noticing that she’s missing a tooth while you are diving in the shore-break for R50 000 somewhere on the seabed.
So a romantic dinner at a restaurant may be the safest option. But then she just had to go and order the crayfish special and you forgot your wallet at home.
So take it easy and do something meaningful for your loved one but just remember . . . February 14 is one of the most common days for break-ups!
