Singing for the forgotten

Musician Natalie Chapman to come past Rain Farm Lodge as part of 180 gigs in 90 days.

Musician Natalie Chapman will be covering 15,000km over 90 days and performing 180 gigs in 90 different towns as part of her second ’90 days, 90 gigs’ tour in support of survivors of violent and sexual crimes.

Chapman completed what was considered by many to be an impossible task from January to April last year, when she traveled 13,500 km across South Africa, reaching thousands of individuals with her message of hope, motivation and music for which she was awarded a LEAD SA Hero Award.

She has turned it up a notch, or three, by doubling the amount of gigs in this year’s #90Days2015 project, which has been running from January will be coming to the Rain Farm Lodge on March 23 at 6.30 for 7pm.

Tickets cost R195 which includes dinner.

“I knew something was missing from my life and I finally realised that it was quite simple. I needed to use my skills as a musician to make a difference,” said the singer/songwriter, activist, LEAD SA ambassador and staunch supporter of South African talent, which she pursues through her company, The Local Element.

The tour raises money for The Epic Foundation, which is a fund raising organisation for a number of different charities that support rape and abuse victims.

Having been on the road since the beginning of the year, she already has many wonderful memories, one being her first show at a Women’s Prison in Upington.

“It was extremely emotional for me to perform for the women, as I realised there are so many “forgotten people” in our society. I believe that no matter what, there is always hope for each man, woman or child. But they need to know that there are people out there who believe that.”

The continuous travelling and performing in a different town every day is not easy and therefore sticking to a disciplined routine is crucial.

“I get sleep where I can, eat well and drink lots of water. Emotionally I try to be present at all times, but I do reserve a piece of my heart and mind for me alone which is unaffected by what I have seen and heard.”

To support this cause, while enjoying dinner to the country/blues sound of Natalie Chapman’s voice, book your tickets now by sending an email to info@rainfarm.co.za and stand a chance to win a Kia Cerento 1.6 EX for a year.
