Mighty Kids team up for uShaka water challenge

Young water warriors will be teamed up to take on this unique, fun obstacle course.

KZN’s mightiest mites will meet to take on the uShaka Mighty Kids Fitness Adventure course on Saturday, April 16.

This inflatable challenge of slides, twists and turns is guaranteed to test any water baby.

Young water warriors will be teamed up to take on this unique obstacle course – so dads,  moms and littlies can brace themselves for plenty of nail-biting fun.

The Mighty Kids event will not only include tiny thrill seekers from across greater Durban but also the youngsters taking part in the uShaka Swimanathi which took to the water at the beginning of February.

This initiative, a partnership between uShaka Marine World and the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation and KZN Aquatics, is aimed at teaching children from rural communities between the ages of seven and 11 years, how to swim in a fun way.

Youngsters taking part in swimming lessons throughout March and April will be included in the Mighty Kids Challenge.

Young participants will be randomly divided into teams of 15-20. Each team will be named after animals in the park such as: Dolphin, Turtle, Shark, Penguin, Seal, Stingray and Starfish.

This relay based “bondelsport” event will take place as follows:

  • Teams aged 6 – 7 years will compete at 11am
  • Teams aged 8 – 9 years will compete at 12 noon
  • Teams aged 10 – 11 years will compete at 1pm
  • Teams aged 11 – 12 years will compete at 2pm

Each member of the winning teams from each age group will receive medals, a cap and drawstring bag and each child who participates on the day will receive a certificate and a T-shirt.

The entry fee for children is R90 and for parents who want to support their “mighty” competitors, R120. Those who pay a top-up of R30, will receive a sea world combo ticket.
