Kongos play at Durban Botanical Gardens

Johnny and Jesse have a strong South African connection having spent their childhood in London and South Africa where they attended Johannesburg’s Seheti School.

The multi-platinum alternative rock band Kongos will appear in KZN for one performance only as part of their anticipated South African tour.

Kongos, which feature Kongos brothers Johnny (accordion, keyboards, and vocals), Jesse (drums, percussion, and vocals), Daniel (guitar, vocals) and Dylan (bass guitar, lap slide guitar, vocals) – will appear at the Durban Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, August 3, with gates opening at 5pm.

The US alternative rock band composes and record in Phoenix, Arizona, where they have lived since 1996.

However, they have a strong South African connection having spent their childhood in London and South Africa where they attended Johannesburg’s Seheti School.

They have an impressive following in this country with previous tours sold out in hours of being announced.

Kongo’s new album, Egomaniac, was released last month with its first single, Take It from Me hitting the US charts. The band will be performing several songs from the new album as well as select cuts from their previous release at the concert which will also feature local supporting acts.

The band’s previous album, Lunatic (2012) included I’m only Joking and Come with Me Now with the latter reaching double platinum status in both America and Canada.
