GALLERY: Power to the ladies

Captain Mahabeer from Durban SAPS gave an informative talk on crime, safety, and self-defence techniques - life skills every women should know and practice.

In the spirit of Women’s Month, BBS Mica held a ladies evening recently, where they focused on four important aspects of a woman’s life – health, safety, wellness and of course a good glass of wine.

Captain Mahabeer from Durban SAPS kicked off the evening, quite literally, as he took to the floor with his two students, Lishavia Mahabeer and Lerisha Singh, to give the ladies a self- defence demonstration.

He gave an informative talk on crime, safety, and self-defence techniques – life skills every women should know and practice.

The ladies were so enthusiastic about Captain Mahabeer’s survival skills course, that BBS Mica will be setting up training days on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 7.30 pm where a minimum of 15 and maximum of 32 students can attend a class.

The three basic survival skills course includes fitness, toning and a bit about the law and how it impacts us.

A certificate of attendance will be issued on the last session of the third month.

After the demonstration, the ladies meandered from stand to stand, learning about anything from healthy living with Lifestyle Health’s Judy Martin to the perfect hairstyle for any occasion with Wow Studios.

The evening ended with a lucky draw, which saw Espe Hewitt win a makeover from Wow Studios worth R1600 and Lewaine von Allerman won the R600 Lifestyle Health hamper.
