Burnedale Cafe features on SABC 3’s Expresso

Burnedale Cafe is now open on Friday nights with delicious specials that change every week and live entertainment.

Burnedale Cafe certainly have their recipe for success down to a tee, as they were the only restaurant to be featured on the recent Expresso television show as a must visit spot in KZN.

Besides making it to television status, the cozy, home-style Cafe is now also open on Friday nights with delicious specials that change every week and live entertainment by local artists to create that lekker, night-out vibe.

Owner of Burnedale Cafe, Brigitte Pousson said their first few Friday night specials have been incredibly popular.

“We recently had an all you can eat pizza evening, where we made nearly 200 pizzas for 120 people. It was insane!

“Our wood fired pizzas are thin base and our most popular one is called Ashley, after my niece, which is topped with mozzarella, grilled chicken, feta, caramalised onion and peppadews,” said Pousson, who started Burnedale cafe nearly five years ago.

While their pizzas are amazing, their real specialty are burgers.

Their burgers will definitely hit the spot.

“We are known for our burgers made with real, 200 gram patties.

“I do not believe in freezing mince, so it is all vacuum packed and fresh.

“We also have a secret basting sauce which gives it our signature taste. Our burgers are filled with anything from blue cheese, bacon, fig preserve and tempura onion rings to cheddar cheese, jalapeno and peppercorn sauce garnished with fresh rockets and our legendary chillinaise.

“We also do a naked burger, for those of you who do not want bread. The burgers are served with sweet potato fries, sprinkled with fresh oregano which is just divine.”

Add one of their freshly squeezed juices made from local, in season produce and you are in foodie heaven.

So good, it made it onto TV

With all of this yummy family dining on offer, it is no wonder that MTN recently chose Burnedale Cafe as one of the best eateries in town to be featured in their Durban Holiday Experiences on the SABC 3 television show, Expresso.

“It was all so surreal. We got an email from Expresso to say they are going to feature our cafe on the show. I thought it was a joke, until they actually phoned us and said they are coming.

“They arrived with the whole crew and we had such a hoot – they are such a fantastic, easy-going bunch to work with. We made the presenter, Graeme Richards make his own pizza, which was great and he loved our freshly squeezed pineapple and watermelon juice.

“They came as strangers and left as friends,” said  Pousson.
