Taking on the world one step at a time

Siebbles represented South Africa at the World Dance Masters Championships in the United Kingdom.

Fit as a fiddle at 53, Ballito line dancer Donna Siebbles recently returned from Ireland after bagging a prize in the European Dance Masters contest.

Showing that life begins in your 40’s, the talented woman started her dance career eight years ago when she was 44.

Although she has always set her sights high, she never imagined that she would compete seriously, let alone take part in and win world championships.

“I became the European champion in the Silver Novice Division at the European Masters which was held in Ballybofey, Ireland on March 11. It was a great opportunity and I love having the chance and the excuse to travel and meet new people.”

Last September, Siebbles represented South Africa at the World Dance Masters Championships in the United Kingdom.

She competed against 15 countries and won in the 45-60 division.

“I was never serious about dancing and line dancing takes dedication and hard work.

“I would like to thank my instructor Serena Rajkumar from Solo Rhythm Dance Studio for her guidance.”
