Restaurant review – Vovo Telo

The menu offers a heap of options, from sandwiches and light meals to pizzas and pastas

Vovo Telo opened its doors last year December at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre and has had a steady stream of customers from the beginning.

They pride themselves on their artisan breads which are freshly baked on site daily. They have a stunning selection to choose from which can be purchased over the counter. They also offer a range of sweet treats.

The venue is delightful – I just love the big bay windows, they give a great view of the bustling centre outside. Inside they have created a really nice environment which is welcoming and relaxed, an ideal place for meetings, book clubs or gatherings.

While friendly, I do think the service could be improved. Our waitress was rather uncertain of her role.

The menu offers a heap of options, from sandwiches and light meals to pizzas and pastas.

The lasagna.

I had a lasagna which was very tasty. The meat was tender with ample sauce, I would have like to see a touch more tomato in the construction but it was still very good.

We also ordered a pizza. They use a sour dough base so I cannot compare it to your standard wood fired pizza. But it is an enjoyable spin on the traditional pizza. They also offer a bunch of non-traditional toppings.

The next menu item we had was a burger. It was served on a soft roll that looked like a brioche bun to me. I don’t like burgers on sour dough rolls (much too tough). The burger was cooked well and juicy.

Overall Vovo Telo are well priced and would be a great choice for a delightful Mother’s Day treat.

They are going to be launching their new winter menu soon and I look forward to what they are going to offer.

I heard they are going to be doing soups, which I look forward to trying with their amazing selection of breads.
