  • Calling all birders and non-birders! The annual Winter Bird Count will be held at the Harold Johnson Nature Reserve at 6.15am for 6.30am. Entrance is free.
  • In celebration of child protection week, join the Breakthrough Centre for their annual Child Protection March. The march will start in Shakaskraal by Pep Store at 10am and a programme will take place at Shakaskraal Primary School Grounds. The dress code is ‘superhero style’. Aldenville Primary School pupils in Groutville lined the R102 with placards last Wednesday to take a stand against child abuse.
  • Every Saturday morning Forest Hills German Shepherd Club Ballito holds dog training for all breeds at Townsend park, Ballito. Advanced classes are at 8am, and beginners classes are at 9.45am. For more contact chairperson Gaby Lyle on 082 925 6481.

  • If you don’t mind a 40 minute drive, just south of us the Botanical Society of SA KZN Coastal Branch is hosting one hour-long walking tours around an attractive 1.5-acre indigenous garden in Atholl Heights, Westville between 9 am and 11 am (reserve tour 2 pm).
