Taking one for the ladies

Ballito's Karen Landman is aiming for the title of Mrs Grand SA

Yummy mommy at 43-years-old, Ballito’s Karen Landman is aiming for the title of Mrs Grand SA, a female empowerment competition set to take place this Thursday.

Aimed at motivating women to bring positive change to the country, the national competition will be held at Roodepoort, Johannesburg.

As one of the finalists, the owner of Simply Models Agency in Ballito said her passion for contributing to the positive development of women drove her to take part in the competition.

“My goal is to show other ladies that you can achieve your dreams regardless of age. I want to encourage women from all walks of life to be a better version of themselves and to be brave enough to stand up for what they believe in,” she said.

Being a jack of all trades and master of them too, Landman is a full-time teacher at Northlands Girl’s High School, a health and wellness coach and an image consultant and owner and coach at Simply Models Agency.

“I focus on teaching young woman who come for modelling coaching to not only focus on outer beauty. I give them lessons to improve their confidence, their posture and their public speaking and appearance.

“About eight years ago, I completed an international image consulting course and I often help ladies to find their true purpose through self-confidence and making them feel better about themselves.”

The mother of three said one of her proudest moments was when she received an honorary award two years ago from KZN Youth Development.

“I am passionate about working with the youth on a daily basis. I think of them as the future of our country and it is important to nurture and teach them about the role they can play in enhancing the county’s development.

As part of the Mrs Grand SA competition, the pretty lady has hosted many events which focus on self-development. Despite juggling day-to-day responsibilities, she has for years been involved with charities such as Reach for a Dream Slipper Day and Queen for a Day, CANSA Shavathon, Cupcakes for Kids with CANSA and Miss Ballito.

Should she win the Mrs Grand SA crown, Landman will be jetting off overseas to compete in the international version of the competition.
