Restaurant Review: RocoMamas
"Those I have spoken to have either raved about it or have been less than impressed. I wanted to make up my own mind, so of course I had to drop in for a visit."
I have heard from so many people that they could not wait for RocoMamas to open in Ballito.
Well the time has come, they have been open for a few weeks now at the Ballito Junction.
Those I have spoken to have either raved about it or have been less than impressed.
I wanted to make up my own mind, so of course I had to drop in for a visit.
First off, the place is funky, I like the vibe.
The menu system is unique. You make your selection and tick off what you want and then give it to your waiter. I am undecided how I feel about this but it worked and it’s a fun experience.
I went for the ‘Surprise Me’ milkshake which suits its name to a tee.
You give control to the person making the milkshake and I can tell you they went crazy.
It is a meal on its own! When they bring you your milkshake the whole restaurant screams surprise!
A bargain at only R50 but to be honest I can’t tell you what flavor it was… but it was epic.

The burgers are good, I am not going to say it was the best I have had but enjoyable.
I do feel they go a bit overboard on the sauce, but the pattie was nice and moist and not over cooked. A nice touch is that you can choose between beef, chicken or veg patties.
Just a word of caution be careful off the chili fries… they pack some serious heat, so if that is what rocks your boat you will love them.

The main meals are not outrageous in price but if you go mad on side orders you might be in for a bit of a bill.
Lastly I must mention our waiter, what a legend, he introduced himself as Sponge Bob and made the meal so much fun.
He gave us high five’s on the way out, it is so nice to see someone put in effort!
