Potjie heals rugby wounds
Thousands raised at Specialised Rescue Unit fundraiser
What started as a lovely morning of rugby and potjiekos for Specialised Rescue Unit (SRU) at The Grandstand on Saturday took a definite dip following the Springboks’ dismal performance.
Luckily the men and women behind the pots brought their A game (even if the Boks did not), raising R4300 in the fundraiser for SRU, and keeping the delicious aromas in the air, ensuring spirits could rise again in spite of the All Blacks.
When all was said and done – the veggies perfectly soft, the meat tender and falling off the bone – it was ‘Die Boerpotte’ team of Thys Bezuidenhout, Pieter Badenhorst, Steven Wiggle and Fanie van Rensburg that walked away as winners.
