Being a goddess takes courage

Tasmeen Rajoo has walked the walk and talked the talk and continues to set the benchmark as she furthers her career in the modelling world

At the tender age of 21, Tasmeen Rajoo of Tongaat has already secured a number of pageant titles under her belt. Not least of all Miss Shakti Beats Beauty Goddess.

She has walked the walk and talked the talk and continues to set the benchmark as she furthers her career in the modelling world.

But working her way to goddess level has not always been smooth sailing.

Originally from Johannesburg, Rajoo has been involved in the modelling industry since the age of four.

After moving to the coast with her family five years ago, she continued her passion for modelling and competed in her first official pageant in 2016 – Mr, Miss and Mrs Ambassador KZN 2016.

It was during that pageant that she was selected as a semi-finalist for KZN Top Model South Africa, and won a public choice award as well as made the top six.

In only two years Rajoo has walked away with a staggering nine pageant titles.

“I enjoy modelling as it is a platform to show the world what the true definition of humanity is and a platform to express myself,” she said.

“As an Indian model, I have been criticized by other Indians. I have made sacrifices and I have taken risks.

“I have worn heels until I can no longer feel my feet. Being a model takes courage and confidence. It takes strength.”

During her reign as Miss Shakti Beats Beauty Goddess, Rajoo has been involved with a number of local charities, but even so, she still finds the time to build her portfolio and model on the side.

“I am currently modelling for the Sahara Fashion parade at Kingsmead Stadium,” said Rajoo, who hopes to become a successful international model and actress in the very near future.
