His comedy career started in 2009 when he took part at a competition at the KwaDukuza Town Hall

Sboniso Dlamini KwaDukuza comedian Sthembiso Mtshali a.k.a “Hello M” scooped his first award last weekend.

Mtshali won the indigenous comedian award at the 2017 South African Traditional Music Awards held in Mahikeng.

“I am very happy and believe that this award will open doors of success for me,” said the humble 25-year-old, who was the only comedian from KZN nominated in this category.

His comedy career started in 2009 when he took part at a competition at the KwaDukuza Town Hall.

The Banguni Secondary School matriculant said with the support he had been getting around KZN, he believes the future still holds something great for him.

“I am called Hello because, during my first performance, people did not respond when I greeted them in Isizulu, however when I said ‘hello’, that was when I had their attention. Therefore, I kept on saying ‘hello’, throughout my performance. From that day I have been called Hello.”

He thanked his sponsors and supporters.
