Welcoming 2018 with the best Maskandi

This was the first Maskandi concert to be held on New Year’s Eve.

Thousands of Maskandi fans flocked to Thembeni Sports Ground in Groutville, for the 2017 MTN Maskandi Song of the year concert on New Year’s Eve.

Upcoming artist from the South Coast, Bahubhe MKhize walked away with a brand new Toyota Fortuner as his song was the most downloaded in 2017.

“Thank you to the people who had downloaded my music and MTN for coming up with such an excellent competition and event,” said Mkhize.

Mkhize was congratulated by other artists for his hard work. He started his career, performing in the streets of Durban CBD.

This was the first Maskandi concert to be held on New Year’s Eve and most of the artists expressed gratitude and said they wish to see the event happening in the next coming years.

What also impressed most who attended the concert was the donation made by MTN to the families of the late Maskandi giants Mgqumeni Khumalo and Mtshengiseni Ngwensa.

Each family received R50 000 cheques.
