Instead of getting gifts for their first birthday, Ballito Junction Regional Mall are handing out presents to their customers.

Since it opened its doors on March 23 2017, the mega mall has welcomed 12 million people to its world of shopping.

December last year alone had 1,4 million visitors with the busiest day to date being December 22 which saw about 70 000 people doing their last minute Christmas shopping.

Ilembe Chamber CEO Cobus Oelofse said the Ballito Junction should be celebrated as a major win for the consumer.

 “As the business confidence index has shown, the consumer is a big winner in terms of the benefit of choice and variety of shopping added to Ballito.

“The Ballito Junction’s unique offering such as the movies means we can retain the money spent in our local economy instead of losing movie goers to Gateway,” said Oelofse.

“The increase in employment opportunities is also a huge benefit for our area.”

To continue growing our economy through major contributors such as Ballito Junction, Oelofse said it is important to grow feeding industries as well.

“We need to stimulate economic activity across all sectors – not just retail and property, but also industrial and commercial. Tourism feeds all our retail opportunities and we can only benefit from it if we get year long tourism and not only seasonal and if we attract both local and international tourists.”

To celebrate the big occasion, Ballito Junction is giving away gift cards worth R100 000! Spend R50 or more daily from March 28 to April 9 to enter and stand a chance to win.
