Maserati celebrates 70th anniversary of the A6G 2000
The A6G 2000 was built between 1947 and 1956. It was named after Alfieri Maserati - kitted with a straight-six engine and delivered in February 1951.
The A6G 2000 was built as a replacement for the A6 1500 series.
Displacement on the A6GCS engine was carefully engineered to increase from 90 to 100 horsepower, enabling a top speed of 180km/h.
At the 1950 Turin Motor Show, Maserati introduced the A6G 2000 in two both a four-seater two-door sedan and a convertible. The latter was designed by Pietro Frua.
Maserati sold 16 of these cars between 1950 and 1951.
The A6G 2000, an icon in the making, was characterised by being rear-wheel drive; a four-speed gearbox, independent front and rear-wheel suspension, a four-speed gearbox, independent front- and rear-wheel suspension with rigid rear axle with leaf springs and hydraulic drum brakes.
Old or modern, that which makes Maserati such an iconic car – its uniqueness, sportiness and design – will always be firmly established and based upon its Italian DNA.
