NGHS hosts UK sportswomen
NORTHLANDS Girls' High School (NGHS) recently played host to 32 hockey and netball players from the United Kingdom who were on a three week sports tour of South Africa.

NGHS sisters, Robyn Mays (Grade 12) and Carla Mays (Grade 9), enjoyed hosting Katie Rogers and Ella Booth. Katie, who has just finished her GCSE examinations and is about to embark on her A levels and Ella, who will write her GCSEs next year, have loved every moment of their trip. They have travelled to Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Oudtshoorn, George, Kynsna and Port Elizabeth and on the day of the photo, were going on safari to Hluhluwe.
Both the girls found South Africa to be full of friendly people and they have had many memorable games and experiences while touring the country. Katie and Ella have really enjoyed South African food, particularly the first taste of biltong and cream soda! The girls have enjoyed learning about ‘tekkies’ and ‘robots’ and have added ‘hectic’, ‘shame’ and ‘hey’ into their everyday language!
Both girls are educated at Bancroft’s School, a co-ed school in Loughton, Essex and say the boys’ cricket team is looking forward to their tour at the end of the year. All 32 girls are taking home NGHS pins for their school blazers, cameras full of photos and many happy memories of South Africa.
