Greenwood Park increase visible policing

Greenwood Park SAPS' Lt ELvis Naidoo reflects on this year's crime stats.

GREENWOOD Park Police Station’s communication officer, Lt Elvis Naidoo, said the station has achieved great success in securing a number of major arrests.

“While there’s been an increase in house robberies, we have arrested more than 30 robbers from more than five gangs,” Lt Naidoo said.

Lt Naidoo said the station has increased its manpower and also put more focus on sector policing.

“There’s been a significant increase in policing and admin staff now patrol as well. At any given time there are about six patrol vehicles in the area.

“Our sectors are vast and we need the community to be our eyes and ears. We also hope to increase our snake patrols and we have partnered with a number of security companies and neighbourhood watches in our fight against crime. We have also recruited informants,” he added.

Lt Naidoo said the station appreciates the cooperation from major security companies in the area.

He urged residents to report any suspicious people or vehicles, adding that a persistant problem in the area is that residents leave their driveway gates open.

He also urged residents not to keep large amounts of cash or expensive jewellery at their home.
