Thanks for contributions to Poppy Day
Local residents raise more than R15 000 in contributions to street collection on Poppy Day recently.

EDITOR – On behalf of the Durban Branch Committee of the SA Legion, I wish to thank all those very kind members of the Durban North (including uMhlanga Rocks) public for their kind and very generous contributions to our recent street collection on Poppy Day, 9 November.
Thanks to them, we raised more than R15 000 which will be used to assist ex-servicemen/women who have fallen on hard times.
Special thanks to the voluntary collectors for giving of their precious time to assist us in this regard.
Special thanks, too, to your newspaper for the pre-event publicity given to us; it obviously helped us improve on the R10 000 collected last year.
Our target for next year must be R20 000, but we don’t need the public to be more generous in order to reach this, we simply need more collectors. So please diarise Saturday, November 8th and offer us an hour or so of your time to collect at a nearby shopping mall.
