uMhlanga beauty crowned Miss Hooters SA

Former Oakridge College pupil Maxine Beigley will now represent South Africa in the international Miss Hooters pageant in Las Vegas in July.

MOST of us make New Year’s resolutions, few of us stick to them, and even fewer of us acheive them. For Sunningdale resident, Maxine Beigley, 2014 was about stepping outside her comfort zone. This she did in stunning fashion after being crowned Miss Hooters SA at the brand’s Emperor’s Palace store in Johannesburg.

“I can’t actually believe I won. I’m really shy and being on stage is kind of like Chinese torture for me. I entered the competition to challenge myself and I was one of the last applicants.

“I’m grateful for the support from my friends, family, and colleagues at work who supported my decision,” she explained.

Maxine will now represent South Africa in the international Miss Hooters pageant in Las Vegas in July.

The former Oakridge College pupil impressed the celebrity judging panel which included Chantelle Swart (Mrs SA 1st princess 2013), Kirsten Martins (Miss Hooters SA 2013 and Miss Hooters World 2013) and Angelique Gerber (7de Laan and Boer Soek ‘n Vrou).

“When I was introduced to the crowd, there was kind of a subdued cheer. But in each round I gained more and more confidence and I guess that helped when it came to the final stage, the bikini round,” she said.

The runners up were Chivonne Brits and Kayla-Teri Hofer.
