Police uncover massive drug den in quiet suburb

Police arrested two people who were found to be in possession of drugs amounting to R880 000.

POLICE uncovered a massive drug den in the quiet suburb of Glen Anil last week. It is believed that the amount of drugs found in the Beech Avenue home has a street valued of approximately  R880 000.

Greenwood Park SAPS spokesman, Lt Elvis Naidoo, reported that two people, a man (67) and a woman (55), were arrested for being in possession of suspected heroine straws and powder.

“We received a tip off that the pair was dealing and storing drugs at the Glen Anil home. Police secured a search warrant and conducted a search of the house on Thursday, 24 April,” Lt Naidoo said.

Stashed behind the stove police officers found two plastic packets, containing 19 transparent plastic bags, each with 50 straws inside, six packets, with each packet containing 100 straws and one bag containing 40 straws. More bank bags were also found with powder and straws and officers also found a few loose straws.

The couple are expected to appear in court soon.
