Juventus FC stretch lead to 8 points

Two victories in three days cements Juventus FC position as log leaders.

JUVENTUS Football Club playing out of Crusaders Club Durban North have increased their lead at the top of the DCFA Premier League to six points, after just eight games.

On Tuesday night at Crusaders the club beat neighbours Villa Park from Greenwood Park 1-0 thanks to a 53rd minute goal by Khanya Ntombela.

Then on Friday (23 May) night Juventus travelled to Gladwin Park to play their arch rivals Stella. The match was a typical derby, extremely robust and physical and unfortunately the assigned referee was poor and weak for this level of football. In the first half, both teams created some half chances but nothing really to bother either keeper and at the half-time whistle the teams went into change rooms at 0-0.

Some tactical changes seemed to spur on Juventus who for the first 10min of second half had stella pinned in their own half and in the 53rd min a free kick found the sure feet of Jean-Marie who slotted the ball past an advancing keeper.

Juventus then lost its keeper who handled the ball outside the box and was sent off for a second cautionable offence. This spurred the home team on in search for the equaliser. Juventus though kept their wits about them and a great defensive display saw off Stella’s last efforts.

Final score 1-0 to Juve and man of the match was Riccardo Papini.
