Motorist dies after tree collision

Paramedics worked feverishly to resuscitate the man, however he died on scene due to his injuries.

ONE person died while another sustained serious injuries in an accident on the R102 near King Shaka airport this morning at around 4am. Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, said reports indicate that the vehicle veered off the road as it was rounding a bend and collided into a tree, with the wreckage coming to rest down an embankment.

“When paramedics arrived they found the motorist had sustained life threatening injuries. After he was extricated from the vehicle they worked fervently to resuscitate the patient, tragically he died on scene,” he said.

Botha added the other patient was stabilised at the scene and then transported to a nearby hospital.
