uMhlanga mother and daughter held up

Suspect used a screwdriver to carry out the robbery.

AN uMhlanga mother and her daughter were held up and threatened by a man wielding a screwdriver in the early hours of Monday morning. The incident occurred at about 3.20am on Sutton Avenue. According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the mother was asleep when she heard raised voices and the anguished shouting of her daughter.

“She went to investigate and found the suspect holding out a screwdriver and demanding to know where the valuables were. He also threatened the mother by pointing the screwdriver at her.

“We are not sure how the suspect managed to gain access to the house. He made off with a cellphone, jewellery and a TV and fled on foot,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.
