Fisherman drowns, washes up on Beachwood Beach

Fisherman dragged into sea washes up three hours later.

THE body of a 52-year-old man washed up near the Beachwood Beach on Sunday afternoon. It’s believed Sudesh Singh, a Phoenix resident, had drowned earlier in the day while fishing further away on Glenashley Beach.

His brother, Anil Singh, said his family was devastated and shocked after hearing the news.

“He was at Glenashley Beach at about 9am and he was pulled into the water by the backwash. A friend of ours phoned me frantically to say he’d been pulled into the water. They couldn’t see his body,” said an emotional Anil.

“His body washed up about three hours later near Beachwood. Fishing was his life, he loved it, it’s just so sad that this happened to him. He is at the beach every day, and this just came as a shock.”

His funeral will be held in Chatsworth on Tuesday around midday.
