Two die in eMdloti horror crash

A head-on collision claimed the lives of two motorists last night.

TWO motorists died in a head-on collision on the M27 between eMmdloti and Verulam at around 6.30pm yesterday.
The impact had severely mangled the vehicles, a Toyota Tazz and a VW Polo, and paramedics had to cut one of the commuters from his vehicle.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) paramedics determined that the driver of the Toyota Tazz had died on impact. The second commuter in the VW Polo sustained severe injuries and was found trapped inside his vehicle. Several emergency services, including eThekwini Fire and Rescue, assisted in the efforts to remove the injured motorist.
According to reports, the Jaws of Life were used to remove two doors from the vehicle, enabling the paramedics to free and stabilise the motorist on scene before transporting him to a specialist hospital in a critical condition. He later died due to the severity of his injuries.
