‘Gate-crashers’ target Durban North home

Daylight robbers ransack home on Stirling Crescent.

A GANG of brazen housebreakers gate-crashed a Durban North home in broad-daylight at lunchtime today and then abandoned the vehicle they had stolen from the property.

According to Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, the housebreaking, which took place in Stirling Crescent at 1.52 today (Saturday)was one of several gate-crashing incidents reported this week.

“The gang arrived at the property in a silver BMW and derailed the main driveway gate before forcing open the front door and security gate. They ransacked the house and loaded up the resident’s vehicle with jewellery, cash, a cellphone, an iPad, a television, laptops and clothes,” he said.

A tracking company later recovered the vehicle on the Berea.

Jackson said gate-crashing incidents had also been reported in Cranberry Grove in Durban North on Tuesday and in Holmpark Place in broad daylight on Sunday last week.

Jackson advised residents to always ensure that their home alarms were armed when the family was stepping out during the day as gangs were brazenly targeting homes in broad daylight.
