Early morning thieves on the prowl

Durban North resident kicked in the face in home intrusion.

A MARION Avenue resident was kicked in the face by an intruder in the early hours of this morning. The post was shared on the Durban North & Umhlanga Community Police Forum: Sector 2 Facebook page.

According to the post, the residents were woken by two men who had managed to get into their home. The residents surprised them, but one of them was kicked in the face by the thief. Chairman of the Durban North & Umhlanga CPF, Haden Searles said: “The owner of the house grabbed hold of the suspect’s ankle as he was climbing out the window. In the ensuing struggle, the suspect kicked the homeowner in the face.”

It’s believed the suspects gained access to the home through an open window.

What’s more, a gold Toyota was identified at the scene of an attempted break-in at a home at Newport Avenue within half an hour of the first incident.

Blue Security and the Homehawks Neighbourhood Watch gave chase, but lost the vehicle and occupants near the Hypermarket. The incidents may be linked.
