Dumped bunnies bounce back
The two bunnies that were dumped at the Riverside Gardens refuse depot in April have been adopted.
THERE will be no ‘Game of Thrones’ ending for Durban’s Cersei and Daenerys. The two bunnies, that started a public outcry after they were said to have been dumped at the Riverside Gardens refuse depot in April, have found a new home.
Durban North resident, Danica Nayar, and her husband rescued the furry duo from the dump on Friday, 24 April. While offloading wood at the depot they were approached by municipal workers who asked them if they would take the pair of bunnies.
The Nayars were told that a woman had dropped the bunnies off that morning, claiming that she was moving to Australia and could no longer keep them.
Through the dedication of the Nayars the critters found their way to the Bunville Rabbit Rescue centre. They were recently adopted by Durban residents, Michelle and Brett Bellringer.
Michelle had come across the sad tale of Cersei and Daenerys while scrolling through the Bunville Facebook page and their story immediately resonated with the animal lover.
“My husband and I have previously adopted from the centre, and we were actually considering adopting another one when I came across the post. I just knew then and there that we could offer them a home. I just cannot understand how someone could have simply dumped them at that site,” said Michelle.
The duo are reportedly adjusting well to their new home, and have already become accustomed to the loving cuddles that come with their new family.
