Two shot, four arrested in Durban North chase

Four Durban North house break-in suspects were arrested after foot chase.

TWO armed house break-in suspects were shot, while a further two were arrested in a high-paced foot chase through Durban North early this morning. The chase ended in Bill Simpson Road Park, where two of the suspects were treated for gunshot wounds to the legs. Durban North SAPS and Marshall Security were patrolling the area when they received a call-out to a house break-in on Doreen Crescent at around 5.40am.

The suspects had held up a resident at knife-point and threatened her before making off with several items, including an iPhone and TV.

“We then surrounded a number of roads in the area and one of the officers spotted four suspects huddling in a property on David Place. A foot chase ensued and I managed to subdue one of the suspects. The two suspects, who were armed with knives, confronted pursuing officers, who shot them in the legs,” explained Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell.

“The remaining suspect was later arrested. We found screwdrivers and a cellphone stolen in the house robbery earlier on. We believe these suspects were the same men spotted fence hopping through a Durban North property (on Davallen Avenue) last night.”
