N2 Nandi Drive accident leaves two injured

The jaws of life were used to rescue one of the drivers who was critically wounded in a head-on collision.

TWO people were injured, one critically, after two vehicles collided along the N2 north near the Queen Nandi Drive off-ramp this afternoon. Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, said the critically-wounded person was placed on a ventilator.

“A report from the scene indicates that an errant party had come from the south-bound lane, across the centre median and collided head-on with another vehicle. One person sustained critical injuries while another was in a serious condition.

“Rescuers used the jaws of life to free the injured from the twisted frame of the vehicle while paramedics worked fervently to stabilise them. After the critically-wounded patient was placed on a ventilator, he and the other patients were transported to various hospitals,” he said.
